Announcement: Johnson County Declares Disaster Due to Discovery of Forever Chemicals in Agricultural Land

The City of Godley is aware of the recent announcement by Johnson County declaring a disaster due to the discovery of forever chemicals (PFAS) in local agricultural land. We want to assure our citizens that we take this matter very seriously and are committed to keeping you informed with accurate and up-to-date information.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and environmental health, the City underwent comprehensive water testing in April 2024 when we became aware of a risk of contamination. We are pleased to report that the results from this test indicated there were no detectable levels of forever chemicals in the municipal water supply.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and work with Johnson County and relevant environmental agencies to assess any future impacts. Your safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we will provide additional updates as new information becomes available.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the Public Works Director, Danny Armstrong.

Sincerely,

Godley City Council
